Marshalltown Friends Beliefs
We want to welcome you to Marshalltown First Friends where our passion is to share the love of Jesus Christ with all that we come in contact with. I am sure the question has crossed your mind, "What is a Friends (Quaker) Church?" Well, that is quite the loaded question with many different sects of Quakerism, which we would love to talk with you about in person, but here are some information that gives a general sense of Friends' faith:
Here at Marshalltown First Friends you are among family. We recognize that no one here is perfect and we do not expect you to be either. We are a Friends (Quaker) church in which we have the call to be active and vibrant in our community and world. To further the kingdom of God by allowing ourselves to be used by Him! That is who we are and that is what we do. We hope you will pay us a visit so we can get to know one another.
Marshalltown Friends is part of a group of orthodox evangelical Friends church in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota known as Iowa Yearly Meeting. The Discipline contains the official expressions of the doctrines and procedures of Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends. It was last revised in 2016.

- The Spirit of God gives guidance that is consistent with the Bible
- As people respond to the Light of Christ within, their lives begin to reflect Jesus’ peace, integrity, simplicity and moral purity

Our History
In October of 1891, Marshalltown Friends was established. Through the years the meeting has been housed in several different locations, including the corner of Main Street and 3rd Street. The current location on South 6th Street has been our home since 1989. In March of 2017 the meeting celebrated it's 125 year in Marshalltown with a day of reflection and celebration.
